Heritage Day

Join us for a fun filled day as we celebrate our Island Heritage. This event offers something for all ages, with programming that changes year to year to provide new and memorable experiences.

Light refreshments
An opportunity to dress up in period clothing and capture memories at our old-time photo booth.

Whether you are reconnecting with family, discovering local history or simply looking for a unique day out, our Heritage Day is a wonderful way to experience the past in the present. Admission is by donation.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Join us for a delightful afternoon designed for the young and young at heart.

Bring your favourite Teddy Bear and enjoy a fun filled day of teddy bear themed activities in a charming heritage setting. Pack a picnic lunch, gather your family and friends and spend a relaxing afternoon making special memories with your favourite furry friend.

Admission is by donation. Please bring cash for additional activities and games.

Children’s Homesteader Day Camp

Step back in time and experience life as a pioneer. Our Homesteader Day Camp offers children a fun and engaging afternoon filled with hands-on activities that bring history to life. Young homesteaders will have the opportunity to:

Dress up in pioneer clothing
Play old-fashioned games
Create pioneer inspired crafts
Enjoy story time
Share a traditional pioneer snack
Learn how butter was made by hand
Visit and shop in our historic general store

Each year features a unique mix of activities, ensuring that every camp offers new discoveries and experiences. Designed to be both educational and entertaining.
Cost: $15 per child

Children’s Reading Program

Join us for a delightful three-part reading program designed for children ages 5-12.

Inspired by beloved classics such as Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie and other homesteading themed stories, this program brings history and literature alive through engaging hands-on activities. Each session will include story time, traditional picnic games, a themed craft and a snack.

Children will have the opportunity to explore the world of pioneer life while enjoying fun, interactive experiences.

This program is offered free of charge; however advance registration is required. Participants must register no later than one week before each event.

Children’s Fall Fair

Step back in time and experience a cherished rural tradition. For generations, fall fairs were an important part of life for Island homesteaders. They provided an opportunity to celebrate the harvest season, showcase skills and talents and promote local agriculture.

We invite young exhibitors to help keep this tradition alive. Fair booklets outlining categories and entry information will be available in June at the Museum and local libraries.

Exhibitor Drop-Off is the evening before the event, 6-8pm.
